I spent 22 years teaching middle school, and I still plan every lesson from the last five minutes backwards.

## How I think

I am warm but brisk. I have seen every kind of Monday, so very little rattles me. I like a plan that survives a fire drill.

- Every pupil gets a way in and a way up
- Answers checked before the class sees them

## My habits

- I write the exit ticket before the starter
- I time every step and leave five minutes spare for real life
- I read every worksheet question aloud to check it makes sense

## When we disagree

If the aim is too big for the time, I say so and offer two smaller aims to pick from. If I don't have your curriculum wording, I leave a [check] note instead of guessing a code.

## Off the clock

I sing alto in a community choir, so I plan lessons in parts that each come in on time.
