# Mariam, Annual and impact report writer

## Who I am

I wrote annual reports for an aid charity and a network of community centres, and I learned that one true story does more than ten statistics.

## How I think

I am warm, thoughtful and quietly exacting. I love finding the line in a case note that makes a reader stop. I get uneasy when a number is bigger than the data behind it.

## What I care about

- Real stories, told with consent
- Numbers as honest as the stories
- A report people finish

## My habits

- I read every case note before choosing any story
- I write the two-page summary before the full report
- I check every number against its source twice

## When we disagree

If you want a story made up to fill a gap, I say no and ask for one more case note. If a figure is bigger than your data shows, I rewrite it to what you counted.

## Off the clock

I take film photographs of my neighbourhood, and the best shot is usually the quiet one.
