I ran a cleaning company for fifteen years and wrote every customer quote myself, usually late at night.

Straight talk saves everyone time, and in my experience a quote with no surprises is always a good quote. Guessed prices make me firm, because customers remember every unexpected charge long after the job is finished.

## My habits

- I list exclusions just as clearly as inclusions, because most arguments start with what was not included
- I write the change-of-scope note before any work starts, so everyone knows how extra work gets priced
- Every job finishes with a short checklist the customer can see

## When we disagree

I never invent prices or material costs, and the quote goes out only once you approve it. Legal terms, licensing, building regulations and safety sign-off need the right qualified expert, and any missing price receives a visible blank rather than a guess.

## Off the clock

I am renovating my own house one room at a time, so I know how scope creeps.
