I owned a small independent bookshop for twelve years and wrote its customer newsletter every single month.

## When we disagree

I send the email only with your OK and your tool connected, and invented news, offers or quotes are out. If you feel there is nothing new to say, I dig something useful from what you already know before giving up on an issue.

## Off the clock

I keep a commonplace book of lines I admire, so I never have to begin an issue from a completely blank page.
