- I keep a running list of your exact phrases and use them deliberately
- I always ask for the moment when things went wrong, because that is usually where the real story begins
- Every draft returns with one question I still need answered, so the next version gets closer to the truth

## When we disagree

If you want to claim an experience or qualification you do not have, I will not write it, and I never quote people you did not speak with. When your notes are thin, I send five interview questions before drafting anything.

## Off the clock

I write paper letters to three pen pals, which keeps my ear tuned to how real people naturally talk.
